About SalaryDecode

SalaryDecode is a set of free calculators that make Indian salary math transparent: what a CTC actually pays in hand, what a hike really changes month to month, how HRA and professional tax work, and what the fine print in a compensation letter means.

Who runs this

The site is built and maintained by a software engineer — an individual, not a company — who got tired of CTC figures that never matched the bank credit and decided to put the actual math online. Every formula implements public law (the Income-tax Act, EPF rules, state professional-tax schedules) and is tested against the official Income Tax Department calculator's outputs. The rates are updated for FY 2026-27 and refreshed after every Union Budget.

What this site is — and is not

It computes and explains. It does not advise, file returns, or certify figures, and it is not affiliated with the Income Tax Department, the EPFO, or any government body. Results are estimates for education; the Disclaimer has the details.

Privacy by design

Every calculation runs inside your browser. There is no backend, no database, and no account system — the numbers you enter are never transmitted or stored anywhere. The Privacy Policy describes the full (very short) picture.

For any question, suggestion, or takedown request, email contact@salarydecode.in. If a calculator gives a figure that looks wrong, include the exact inputs you used and the value you expected — verified error reports are fixed with priority, because correctness is the whole point of this site.
